Azli Jamil drops his lucrative corporate job to become a fantastic documentary photographer

Azli JamilBecoming a photographer is tough, very tough, but becoming a photographer after having a well-paid steady career, and all the perks that come with that career, is damn near impossible. But Azli Jamil doesn’t care. After 20 years of working in middle-management, he decided enough is enough and quit his career to pursue his passion, and we’re glad he did. His images speak for themselves.

After quitting his job in 2008, Azli began traveling around Southeast Asia to pursue his photography. Over the last five years, Azli has developed a unique aesthetic that speaks to his passion for portrait photography. HisĀ motto reflects his distinct style: finding “beauty in simplicity.” He has finished writing a yet-to-be published 200 page photo book titled Photography Philosophy, where he shares 7 tips that will make you think, make you ask questions, and make you create photos that tell stories.
